{Your Song}

Some couples have 'their song' long before they get married, the first song they danced to at Prom or something from a special moment in their relationship. Others pick a song they both like for their first dance and it becomes their special song through the years together as a married couple.

Couple of tips
If your song is long, let the DJ know to fade it out at a certain point or have the band only do the first couple of verses. Six minutes of having people watch you dance will seem like forever.

If you aren't planning a choreographed routine, another idea is taking dancing lessons, which can be a fun thing for couples to do together and a way to make you seem a little more graceful for your dance. 

Whether you decide to take lessons or not, it doesn't hurt to do a little practice, especially the Groom! Try dancing to your song at least once to make sure you're both on the same page with how you plan on dancing.

{colors of fall}

My favorite season of the year is hands down, fall. The colors of the leaves when they turn, the ability to cuddle up on the couch in your comfy sweats with a movie (and not feeling guilty for being lazy), and adding pumpkin spice to as much as possible! These are only a few reasons of why I love this season. I can't explain why, maybe it's because fall leads up to the holiday season - there's just something about the weather that makes it that much more enjoyable than any other time of the year. 

I've be finding that the colors of fall are absolutely perfect for any wedding palette during the months of September and November - orange, brown, green, yellow. Just take a walk outside and look at the leaves on the trees and you will find unlimited options for a color of fall. The options don't stop at the colors either. Scents are another hit for this wonderful season. Share your favorites with your guests during the ceremony and reception.

Below, I've shared some of my favorites for this season - colors to scents to wedding inspiration boards. The possibilities are endless for this time of year. Be creative, do some research and see what you can come up with!

{Wedding Draperies}

Make a statement. Be inviting. Create an atmosphere. 

 All of these statements can be created with the simple touches of draperies. They can turn any dull reception hall into a romantic presence for you and your guests. The atmosphere will seem inviting and give you the fairytale look you've always dreamed of. 

Here are some of our favorite ceiling treatments, some of which we've done for past weddings.

Create a dramatic look to the center of the reception hall. Hope your ready for your guests to be in awe of the romantic presence this look can create.

There are many ways to hang drapes. We certainly like to create ceiling treatments like the picture to the left. If you have high ceilings, the wave look can help hide the empty space above. This makes the room look inviting and more full.

Create a backdrop for your head table, with one or more colors of drapes. This look definitely brings attention to the Bride and Groom and their wedding attendants. 

 

 

Create a pattern - crisscross down the center of your ceremony aisle or create this look over the dance floor at your reception.

 

The dance floor is where you want most of the events take place at your reception - grand entrance, first dance, all of which are wonderful photo opts for your guests. Draw focus by draping the corners of the dance floor to ensure your guests of where to look. (and to kick off their dancing shoes!)

The possibilities can be endless when it comes to ceiling treatments. Even a little design can create a whole new look for your ceremony or reception. 

Be creative and make a statement!

The Color Palette

From the moment you get engaged, your mind wonders in 20 directions, not forgetting that you are officially a Bride - When will I go shopping for my dress? What about a venue to hold all of our guests? Who will be my Bridesmaids?  As you know, many elements take place during the beginning phase of wedding planning. But there is one element of a wedding that most of you Brides don't think about right away. This can be one of the most important decisions to make so you can continue with your planning processes. This being a color palette. 

With thousands of colors being in the rainbow, Brides usually have a back and forth argument that may take months to finalize. You may listen to the opinions of your fiance, family or friends, which make your decision even more difficult. This is something you and your Groom need to decide upon. What colors fit YOUR personalities, what are YOUR likes and dislikes, and etc. This is the most important day in your life, so pick a palette that you won't end up regretting because your mother-in-law likes it best.

After some web browsing and searching through Pinterest boards, we found a few of our favorite color palettes. Depending on the time of year you've chosen for your wedding, there can be many choices: romantic shades for a Winter wedding, subtle Fall or Spring hues, or vibrant Summer colors. Use these ideas or pull colors from various palettes and see what combination you can come up with - the sky is the limit, so YOU be the judge!

We were honored to be a part of the wonderful wedding of Janelle Johnson to Steve Marshall. The couple, who resides in Texas, wasn't much of the glitz and glam - just as long as they had each other on their special day. They enjoyed their ceremony and reception, filled of purple and white, at the beautiful Botanica Gardens in Wichita. 

Purple uplights beamed on white drapes that circled the ballroom and the decor incorporated the couple's precious touches. The Bride and Groom enjoy traveling, so each centerpiece incorporated a photo of a historic landmark of where they've seen the world together. The night was filled with love from their families and friends and the day made us all become hopeless romantics.
